About the Client
The Brotherhood of St Laurence is an Australian not-for-profit organisation that works toward a vision of an Australia free of poverty. It undertakes research, delivers services and advocates on behalf of people experiencing disadvantage.
Challenge
As the Brotherhood’s online presence relied on a closed-source, out-of-date content management system that was no longer supported, they had to quickly migrate to a new system, one that would meet their future needs. The diversity and complexity of the services provided by the Brotherhood called for a content management system that was both robust and flexible, and which could be readily supported and maintained. As well, the site needed to allow specific access permissions to many site editors across the organisation.
Solution
As the initial step, we set up the open-source enterprise content management system, TYPO3, and created design templates based on the existing site’s look and feel. While a huge number of pages and page content was migrated to the new system, Cerebrum trained the Brotherhood’s staff in using the new system.
With a stable, secure and easy-to-use site in place, we continued to work with the organisation to update the site design, and meet modern mobile responsive design standards. We have continued to consult with the Brotherhood of St Laurence to restructure content and add new functionality as required. This includes sophisticated integration with external systems like CRM (client relationship management), email marketing, and other systems.
With such a diverse range of stakeholders, programs and service offers, we have very successfully supported our client in designing, developing and maintaining sub-sites to meet specific functional and communication needs. We provide customised enterprise hosting and maintenance for all these applications.
Working in close partnership with the Brotherhood of St Laurence, Cerebrum continues to provide consultancy, development, training and support to successfully deliver their digital strategy.
